Heritage Seed Library growing & preservation facilities tour and Masterclass

Join our Heritage Seed Library team on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of our seed saving facilities and growing areas as they share their expert advice and techniques around growing and preserving seed effectively. Your guided tour will be followed by a seed saving demonstration of biennial crops delivered by Catrina Fenton, Head of the Heritage Seed Library. You'll be hands-on having a go at seed cleaning beetroot with the chance to take your sample of seed away with you to grow next season in your own growing patch.

Tour of our beautiful organic garden
Our garden tour will demonstrate how to establish and maintain an organic garden and reveal the organic principles we use such as companion planting, crop rotation, soil management, composting, pest and disease management, and seasonal activities. There will be plenty of time with the garden team to ask your organic growing questions and time to explore the garden for yourself.

Q&A with Catrina, Emma, and the Garden Team
The Masterclass will end with plenty of time to chat with Chris, Emma, and the Garden Team at Garden Organic, to ask your organic growing questions and find out how to address any challenges you have. Between them, the team has a wide range of expertise on all aspects of organic growing, from propagation and planting to soil care and composting. This will be a rare opportunity to talk with these experts so make sure you take plenty of time to pick their brains! 

More about Catrina 
Catrina is the Head of the Heritage Seed Library, managing the collection and supporting communities to share, grow and save seed through training, events, and partnership projects. She has worked for Garden Organic for the last ten years and her previous roles have involved food growing programmes in schools and other communities.

What you need to bring: Our behind-the-scenes tour will include a walk through some of our working and growing areas and may include crossing some uneven terrain and we, therefore, advise that sensible outdoor clothing and footwear are worn by attendees.
