Greenpeace publishes EU Pesticide Blacklist

Greenpeace has just published an EU Pesticide Blacklist, which includes over 500 active substances of pesticides and herbicides which are currently approved by the EU. It includes the herbicide glyphosate. Of these 520 substances, 209 are considered are potential risk to human health and the environment.

New study finds neonicotinoid insecticides linked to wild bee decline across England

Exposure to oilseed rape crops which have been treated with neonicotinoids has been linked to the long-term population decline of wild bee species across the English countryside, according to research published yesterday by the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH).

Calling all seed swappers...

As we're starting to put together the 2018 Heritage Seed Library Catalogue, we're on the look out for members wanting to share their excess seed with other members. The Seed Swap section of the catalogue includes a listing of individuals with excess seed, or those on the look out for particular varieties to swap.

Consumers urged to 'Go Compostable' with their paper cups

Garden Organic's Master Composters are urging consumers to 'Go Compostable' if they are buying disposable cups for their picnics and BBQs this summer.

Did you know that according to a recent BBC report, here in the UK we throw away 2.5bn disposable cups a year, and although many of us put them into the recycling bin, the way they are made means many are never recycled at all.
